About Dr. Azra Raza:

Accomplished physician, scientist, and author, Dr. Azra Raza is the Chan Soon-Shiong Professor of Medicine and Director of the MDS Center at Columbia University in New York. She is an international authority on preleukemia (MDS) and acute leukemia and supervises a state-of-the-art research lab and the largest tissue bank of blood and marrow samples from MDS and acute leukemia patients in the country.

She has several publications in prestigious, peer-reviewed journals such as The New England Journal of Medicine, Nature, Blood, Cancer, Cancer Research, British Journal of Hematology, Leukemia, and Leukemia Research. She is a recipient of numerous awards such as The Hope Award in Cancer research 2012 (shared with the Nobel Laureate Dr. Elizabeth Blackburn). In 2019, she published her second acclaimed book, The First Cell, and invites the reader on a journey to learn about cancer from every angle: medical, scientific, cultural, and personal.
